Prop Firm Drawdown Calculator

A prop firm drawdown calculator shows how far your account is from its daily and maximum drawdown limits. Enter the initial account size, the balance at the daily reset, current equity and your firm's limits; for trailing drawdown, add the highest balance reached. The result is the room left to each floor and how many losing trades of a given size fit before the nearer one.

How prop firm drawdown room is calculated

Daily drawdown floor
daily floor = balance at the daily reset − (daily % × initial account)
Maximum drawdown floor
static floor = initial account − (max % × initial account); trailing floor = highest balance − (max % × initial account)

The room left to each limit is current equity minus the floor; the smaller of the two is the limit you would hit first. Firms differ on whether they use balance or equity at the reset, whether the trailing floor updates at the end of the day or intraday, and whether it stops at the initial balance: prop firm drawdown rules.

Worked example

$100,000 account, 5% daily and 10% static maximum drawdown, balance at today's reset $100,000, current equity $98,500:

Daily floor $95,000, room $3,500; maximum floor $90,000, room $8,500. At $1,000 risk per trade, 3 losing trades fit before the daily floor.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate remaining drawdown in a prop firm?

Subtract each floor from current equity. The daily floor is the balance at the daily reset minus the daily loss allowance; the maximum floor is the initial balance (static) or the highest balance (trailing) minus the maximum loss allowance. The smaller result is the room left.

Does this calculator work for trailing drawdown?

Yes. Choose trailing and enter the highest balance (or equity) the account has reached; tick the box if your firm stops the trailing floor at the initial balance.

Should I use balance or equity?

Use the values your firm uses. Many firms set the daily floor from the balance at the reset and check both limits against equity, which includes floating profit and loss on open trades.
